Business Before Hours: Learning RX - "Cognition and Workplace Performance"
In your day to day professional life, have you ever wondered why you feel naturally more comfortable with certain intellectual exercises (reading and comprehension, for instance), while at the same time feel less confident and capable in other areas (such as mathematics/quantitative skills)? Have you ever felt like there’s more to your own personal intellect than could be captured or described in one single metric (“IQ number”)? What’s really the difference between “book smart” and “street smart”?
LearningRx will be providing an introduction to seven core cognitive skills as they relate to overall performance in the workplace and competitiveness in the job market. We will discuss recent advances in brain science and “neuroplasticity”, and explain how it is quite possible (in fact, normal) to be strong in some cognitive skills while being weaker in others. Lastly, we will discuss strategies for busy workplace professionals to identify/quantify those weak points and improve their intellectual performance at any age.
